Abnormal total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides
Cholesterol and triglycerides are measured with a simple blood test called a lipid panel. Whether your lipid levels require treatment is not solely based on your lipid panel numbers. But these numbers, and your personal risk factors determine your overall risk for heart disease and other serious medical problems.
We order laboratory tests to determine your cholesterol and triglycerides levels. We also perform a physical examination to rule out other conditions. We talk to you about what your cholesterol and triglycerides numbers mean for you, and we help you decide whether you should take cholesterol-lowering medication or use diet and lifestyle changes to manage your personal risk factors, and to reach your health goals.
Our treatment goal is to lower and stabilize your lipid panel numbers with nutrition and exercise and to reduce your risk for future health problems by maintaining a healthy weight. We periodically monitor your dietary and exercise habits, and your lipid panel values to determine your treatment plan over time. Contact us to find out more.
